HASH

N+227: Rain, dips in the waterfalls, steep hills, and butt-slides marked a successful last run by Married Priest before he waves goodbye

By Sebastian Sommer

Captain Americunt and  Married Priest were hares. It was the last run set by Married Priest before he pisses off to the great home country (Germany of course).

Hashers were already afraid before the hash even started...also because it was called the "Bergfest Hash". The name was certainly the right description of what awaited the approximately 25 hashers.

A bit of rain cooled down the hashers as they made their way up the hill towards Taquari. The beer stop took place at the waterfall Urubu. Some hashers used it to take a bath. They surely needed this refreshment for the way down. Probably the steepest trail since the Swedes have left. Some preferred to do it on their butt. But everybody made it safely to the endpoint. Even Zaria, who took Opulence's place during the hash.

At the circle, basically everyone had the privilege to get a down down. Troy got a special one for being certainly too well-built (on the upper body) than any 53-year-old bastard should be...

N+226: A Successful cloudy-day Hash, better than a Beer Mile

By, Milan Sime Martinic

Banking on the dedicated and expert scouting by hash master Opulence, some 30 locals and expats had an opportunity to see parts of the area around Brasilia they would have never visited on their own, definitely seeing and doing things you won't see in a guidebook...running and walking following dashes of flour laid out along paths by Opulence and the hare earlier in the day, that is work that takes several hours of preparation.

Hashes are for exercise, fun, nice things, and not taking oneself too seriously. There is always more than a bit of anarchy and bonding over a walk, a run, and a beer to replenish the spent calories with friends. Hashes are not gym bunny stuff, and the   6/2/22 N+226 hash at the Dom Bosco Hermitage was particularly a more challenging path, as warned in several postings.

As always, some of the flour signs are misleading, leading to a dead-end so nobody knows where the trail goes and there is the added thrill of somebody being lost at some point... today it was a teen hasher that everyone was looking for. Mercifully, he was promptly found by I Lost Myself.

The goal is always the same, to have a grand experience with friends, to reassure older members that they are not as old as they feel while promoting fitness and good thirst to satisfy with a beer. It is a tradition that dates back some 8+ decades when some British officers began running around pre-war Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to shake off their hangovers and get tipsy anew. The poor fellows were fed corned beef hash on nearly a daily basis, they called their dining room the Hash House, thus the name. You can find Hash House Harriers in just about any major city on the planet, there are more than 2000 branches, it is the world's most irreverent and perhaps largest running collective.

Here are some scenes from the Brasilia N+226 Hash:
